In the second half of their Week 5 game against the New York Jets, the Minnesota Vikings running game managed only five yards without Aaron Jones, which led to a request for reinforcements in the running back room.

Former Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowler Tony Pollard, a talent the organization expressed interest in back in March, is one of several possible trade options.

According to KSTP’s Darren Wolfson, who stated on March 7, “there are multiple fans at a very high level of Tony Pollard.” Pollard’s performance in a commanding 40-3 victory over the Vikings in 2022 also had some enduring impact in Minnesota. “Just because Tony Pollard has some fans in Eagan does not mean they are going to chase him.”

Pollard, who inked an offseason contract worth $24 million with the Tennessee Titans, has not fared well in tandem with the team’s offensive line anchored by Will Levis.

The Titans might be sellers at the trade deadline if they are unable to improve upon their 1-3 start to the season.

Tyjae Spears, a second-year back for Tennessee who is on a less expensive contract, is comparable to Pollard. Pollard’s contract can be released by the Titans in exchange for a Day 3 pick.

In the meantime, Jones, 30, has a history of problems and would benefit from the extra help even after recovering from a hip injury he suffered in Week 6.
