The Dallas Cowboys attracted additional attention on Sunday due to Mike McCarthy’s uncertain employment position. With his club, the head coach suffered a crushing 34-6 loss against the Philadelphia Eagles. The route stoked fresh hopes that owner Jerry Jones would quickly alter the course.

Jones, the Cowboys’ longstanding owner, president, and general manager, responded to McCarthy’s position through The Athletic’s Jon Machota. Jones says McCarthy will have job security on Monday.

Jerry Jones, the owner of the Cowboys, stated that he is not interested in changing the coaching staff. On X (previously Twitter), Machota wrote, “He has fired coaches in-season before and he has regretted it every time.”

After a humiliating 45-7 loss to the Green Bay Packers on November 8, 2010, Jones once fired Wade Phillips. Before firing Phillips that season, Dallas plummeted to a 1-7 record.

The record of this Dallas team is superior to that of that 2010 squad. But the Cowboys lost to the Eagles 3-6 overall. Dallas has now dropped its last four games, which is even worse. The Cowboys have not resembled the squad that surprised the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are currently 7-2, on October 6.
Jerry Jones expresses his displeasure with the Cowboys’ performance.

Inside AT&T Stadium, the 82-year-old witnessed a turnover fest.

Five times, Dallas lost the football game. Cooper Rush, the starting quarterback, had a historically poor performance and mishandled the ball twice on fumbles. Jake Ferguson and Ezekiel Elliott both made a mistake. After replacing Rush, Trey Lance threw the only interception of any Dallas quarterback.

Jones stated simply after the game, “You can not win games turning the ball over five times.”

Jones admitted that he is “just as frustrated as everyone else.” Because “I had a lot to do with what we are seeing,” he also referred to it as “proper frustration.” He also made a direct analogy between Philadelphia and Dallas.

“Philadelphia is a very good team, and we can not compete with them.” That is concerning,” Jones remarked.
