Cowboys star CeeDee Lamb didn’t mince words after the team’s dismal 34-10 loss to the Texans on Week 11’s “Monday Night Football.” The game wasn’t just a blowout on the scoreboard; it also encapsulated a troubling trend for Dallas this season: from the opening whistle, it felt like they were never in control, struggling to keep the game from slipping further away.
Lamb recorded eight receptions for 93 yards, but most of the offense came from backup quarterback Cooper Rush, who once again appeared overwhelmed in place of the injured Dak Prescott, sidelined for the season with a hamstring injury. While Prescott’s performance had also been underwhelming this year, without him, the Cowboys have looked out of sorts, merely playing out the season.
The Cowboys are now 3-7 on the season, and have yet to win a home game, sitting at 0-5.
After the game, Lamb succinctly expressed his frustration with two words: “It sucks.”
The team’s struggles have been evident for weeks now, as many have already begun to shift their focus from salvaging 2024 to looking ahead to 2025. That future, however, will be challenging, especially with Dallas locked into expensive long-term contracts for both Prescott (four years, $240 million, the largest in league history) and Lamb ($135 million, the second-largest receiver contract in the NFL).
In his postgame interview, Lamb offered more than just a brief lament: “To be honest, it’s not so much about coping. It’s about moving forward. You can’t dwell on the past. We’ll watch the film, correct the mistakes, and we’ve got to go out and play much better. If we get into the end zone more, we’d be having a very different conversation.”
That’s a fair point, as every NFL team shares the goal of scoring more. However, the real frustration for the Cowboys is the shift in perception: after years of dominance, they now find themselves as the team struggling to compete.
“Obviously, teams are trying to embarrass us,” Lamb acknowledged. “When they have the chance, they’re taking advantage. We had a lot of success the last few years during the regular season, but it’s catching up to us now.”
