From the moment the 2023 Dallas Cowboys draft class was announced, it faced heavy criticism from fans. Another defensive lineman from Michigan? A tight end in the second round? The reactions were overwhelmingly negative following the draft.
And it didn’t get better once the season kicked off.
Mazi Smith and Luke Schoonmaker, the top picks of the class, contributed very little in their rookie seasons. Smith, especially, became a target for much of the criticism.
Third-round pick DeMarvion Overshown didn’t see any action in his first year due to an ACL injury sustained during the preseason, and the rest of the draft picks also failed to make any significant impact.
