Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is speaking candidly ahead of the team’s upcoming matchup with the Carolina Panthers.
The Cowboys have had a challenging season, facing numerous setbacks, including the loss of star quarterback Dak Prescott to a season-ending injury. Despite some ups, like backup QB Cooper Rush’s 2-2 record, the team’s playoff hopes took a significant hit with a 27-20 loss to the Bengals on Sunday.
Following that loss, Lamb shared his raw feelings about the team’s struggles. Lamb, who had an impressive performance with 93 yards and a touchdown on six receptions despite dealing with a shoulder injury, was asked about the frustration in the locker room.
Lamb summed up the mood with a simple yet powerful response: “It sucks.” He added, “Obviously, we needed that win, and we didn’t get it. It hit us hard in the locker room. I don’t have much more to say, but yeah, it sucks.”
When asked if this loss hurt more than the others this season, Lamb stated, “They all hurt the same.” He continued, “They build up, and this is the result.”
Despite the tough loss, Lamb highlighted some positive aspects, especially the defense, which he credited for giving the team several opportunities to take control of the game. “The defense did a great job stopping them and giving us chances,” Lamb said. “We didn’t capitalize on some, and after halftime, we kind of stalled offensively.”
On his shoulder injury, Lamb opened up during a press conference on December 5. “It’s not a pleasant feeling for anyone who’s had an AC joint sprain,” he said. “But it’s manageable. You take it day by day and keep recovering.” Lamb explained that playing through the injury is difficult but not unfamiliar. “It starts as a mental challenge before the pain becomes unbearable,” he noted.
Lamb also dealt with a similar shoulder injury during his freshman year at Oklahoma in 2017, so he’s familiar with how to manage the situation.
Looking ahead, the Cowboys are preparing to face the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, December 15. Interestingly, the Panthers are favored to win for the first time in two years, but the Cowboys aren’t counting themselves out just yet.
