Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown has faced significant challenges early in his NFL career, but there’s now hope for a quicker recovery. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the former Texas standout underwent successful knee surgery on Wednesday, and his recovery timeline is much more optimistic than initially expected. Sources revealed that Overshown could potentially return by the middle or later part of next season.

A third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Overshown, 24, had a promising start to his professional career but was sidelined by a right knee ACL injury during his second preseason game. Despite these setbacks, he demonstrated impressive potential when healthy. This season, the 6’2″, 220-pound linebacker recorded 90 tackles, 5 sacks, and a forced fumble in 13 games. He also made a memorable play on Thanksgiving, returning an interception for a touchdown against the New York Giants. While at Texas, Overshown accumulated 249 tackles, 30.5 tackles for loss, and 9 sacks over five seasons. His college honors included being named the MVP of the 2020 Alamo Bowl and earning first-team All-Big 12 recognition in his final year.
