Detroit fans have seen this before: a star offensive lineman showing up on the injury report week after week, but never missing a game. For years, Frank Ragnow carried that role, battling through a painful toe issue without letting it sideline him. Now, head coach Dan Campbell says veteran tackle Taylor Decker has taken on a similar challenge.
Decker, who hurt his shoulder during training camp, hasn’t missed a single game this season — but his name hasn’t left the injury report either. He’s been limited in practice almost every week, and Campbell confirmed on Friday that this will likely continue for the time being.
“We’d rather not have it this way, but that’s just where we’re at,” Campbell admitted. “The goal is to get him feeling as good as possible on game day. He’s given us everything he has, and as our most experienced player, he doesn’t need every rep to be ready.”
So don’t panic if you keep seeing Decker listed before games. According to Campbell, it’s mostly about managing his workload and protecting him for Sundays. Unless the Lions announce otherwise, fans can expect Decker to keep powering through while the team looks to get him fully back on track later in the season.
