Dan Campbell, head coach of the Detroit Lions, made his stance on the Philadelphia Eagles’ controversial ‘Tush Push’ play clear during the NFL Annual Meeting in Palm Beach, Florida. The Eagles’ unique play, which involves a lineman pushing a ball carrier past the line of scrimmage for additional yards, became a focal point after their Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. The size and strength of Philadelphia’s offensive line, particularly with players like Jordan Mailata, made it even more difficult to stop.
Campbell, however, expressed no ill will toward the play but emphasized that the Lions would need to find a way to counter it. “Philly has mastered it, and they’ve made it work for them,” Campbell said. “Good for them. If it’s something that works, we’ve got to find a way to stop it.” He added that he would prefer the play to remain in the game, as it adds to the challenge for defenses.
