Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is continuing to raise his national profile by adding another highlight moment.
St. Brown will play in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game, which kicks off All-Star Weekend on Friday, February 13, in Los Angeles and will be broadcast on ESPN, according to Adam Schefter.
Along with artists, former athletes, and celebrities from throughout sports and popular culture, the game will have a solid NFL presence thanks to the inclusion of Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen.
Basketball History of Amon-Ra St. Brown
Although St. Brown is primarily recognized as one of the NFL’s most productive wide receivers, this will not be his first time displaying his basketball prowess in a competitive environment.
Prior to becoming a football celebrity, St. Brown played basketball in high school. Teammates and coaches have long highlighted his coordination, footwork, and court awareness—skills that transfer seamlessly from the hardwood to the gridiron—even if football eventually became his main concentration.
His presence in the Celebrity Game is more than simply a curiosity because of his experience. Brown has genuine hoops experience and competitive drive that should shine during the event; he is not just there for the pleasure of it.
One More Major Platform for an Up-and-Coming Star
The fact that St. Brown has been invited is yet another illustration of how much his reputation has improved since joining the NFL. By establishing himself as one of the NFL’s most dependable and physical receivers and earning Pro Bowl accolades, he has grown to represent the renaissance of the Detroit Lions.
At one of the NBA’s most popular weekends of the year, he will now represent Detroit—and the Lions—on a national stage outside of football.
The All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles also brings St. Brown back to Southern California, where his athletic career began long before Sundays at Ford Field.
