Detroit Lions Honor Andy Isaac with 'Faturday' Message on Stadium Big Screen

Andy Isaac, co-founder of the well-known pop culture site Guyism, has received an outpouring of support following his announcement that he has entered hospice care.

A longtime Detroit sports fan and blogger, Isaac has openly shared his battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma since 2006. His willingness to voice his thoughts on local teams earned him a devoted following, not just in Detroit but across the country, due in large part to his genuine and caring personality.

Many have come forward to highlight Isaac’s selflessness, recounting how he often extended kindness to others, even to those he barely knew, by fulfilling personal requests to interact with their friends or loved ones.

Isaac’s passion for Detroit sports was deeply felt across all of the city’s teams. In recognition of his impact, each of Detroit’s professional teams displayed the word “Faturday” on their stadium screens this past weekend, a nod to his well-documented enthusiasm for food and food culture.

Cass Anderson, Isaac’s fellow Guyism co-founder, reflected on his influence, particularly in the early days of Twitter.

“He was ahead of his time when it came to GIF creation and real-time sports highlights,” Anderson told Front Office Sports. “He was the first person I worked with who had an incredible ability to get live clips on Twitter instantly.

He helped people understand how Twitter could be used during live sports, and his humor was something everyone appreciated. He also played a key role in supporting female voices in the industry, which has been evident in the many tributes shared over the last 24 hours.”
