The Detroit Lions have scheduled a game overseas on their 2026 NFL calendar.

For the first time since 2015, the squad will compete in a match outside of the United States. Detroit’s opponent has not been determined, but the club is expected to travel to Munich, Germany, in early November. The official date for the game has not yet been announced.

Team President Rod Wood stated that he did not request the league to give the Lions a bye week following the overseas content.

He has previously made numerous requests regarding the team’s schedule.

“The one thing I fought for was to not have Thursday-to-Thursday games after Thanksgiving. Assuming that this international match in Munich will take place in November, since I believe the matches in Germany have been in November, according to Wood, via the team’s social media channels. The thing about flying back, playing a game, celebrating Thanksgiving, and then playing again on Thursday is that it is extremely taxing on the players and traveling. So that’s the one thing I asked for, and I hope I’ve justified my request. “

The team is not expected to have a bye week after playing in Germany, so any extra alleviation on the schedule would be appreciated, since Detroit struggled on limited rest last season.

Amon-Ra St. Brown is thrilled to return to Germany.

Detroit’s finest receiver had the opportunity to hear the schedule news from his mother, who startled him with a video call to reveal that the team would be playing in Germany.

I’m excited. I’ve seen films. I’ve watched teams compete there, St. Brown told ESPN. I asked players what it was like to play in Germany, and they all said, “Man, the fans are electric, they’re amazing. ” So, it will be fantastic for me to be out there with my teammates.

St. Brown added that he wants to spend time with them and his family, as well as play football in Germany, something he has desired since he was a youngster.

The former fourth-round selection has made several travels to Germany during the offseason. Last year, a couple of his former teammates, Kalif Raymond and Craig Reynolds, stopped by to see him.
