The Detroit Lions will be without rookie guard Miles Frazier when they face the Green Bay Packers in Week 1. Frazier is starting the year on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, meaning the earliest he can take the field is Week 5.

Despite the setback, the fifth-round pick is staying motivated. On Sunday, Frazier posted a photo of his locker at the team’s Allen Park facility with the caption: “Back 2 work.”

The rookie recently traveled to Clemson, South Carolina, where he attended the LSU-Clemson top-10 showdown. Frazier, who played for LSU from 2022 to 2024, was drafted by Detroit with the 171st overall selection in this year’s draft.

Frazier has been sidelined since July 17 with a knee injury. Head coach Dan Campbell acknowledged on July 22 that the rookie would need time, but hinted that a return could come sometime in September or October, shortly after the required four-week minimum.

Detroit invested heavily in its offensive line during the draft. Alongside Frazier, they selected Tate Ratledge in the second round (No. 57 overall). Ratledge is set to start at right guard in the opener, while veteran Graham Glasgow shifts to center following Frank Ragnow’s retirement.

Once healthy, Frazier will likely serve as depth on the interior line, though there’s a possibility he could eventually slide into a starting spot. General manager Brad Holmes left the door open to lineup adjustments, suggesting that the team could experiment with moving Ratledge to center and giving Frazier a chance at guard in the future.

For now, Detroit will open the season with Christian Mahogany and Ratledge at guard when they clash with the Packers on September 7.
