Detroit Lions safety Morice Norris was hospitalized in stable condition Friday night after suffering a frightening injury during the team’s preseason matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. The incident occurred late in the fourth quarter with 6:31 remaining, when Norris attempted to bring down Falcons running back Nathan Carter. As Carter lowered his shoulder, his knee collided with Norris’s head, sending the defensive back to the turf.

Medical staff rushed onto the field immediately, assessing Norris’s condition and immobilizing his head and neck as players from both teams knelt in concern. For several tense minutes, the 24-year-old lay motionless while trainers worked to stabilize him. Norris was eventually placed on a backboard and transported by ambulance to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta for further evaluation.
