In 2026, the Detroit Lions will travel outside of the United States.
The Lions are participating in the NFL’s International Games for the first time since 2015. The NFL Munich game in 2026, sponsored by DKB, will be held in Germany for Detroit, according to official plans. It’s one of a record nine international games scheduled for 2026 in eight venues throughout seven nations on four continents. The match will be part of a multi-year agreement to host games in the city in 2026 and 2028 at the FC Bayern Munich Stadium.
Not until the full NFL schedule is released in the spring will the Lions know their opponent, game date, and start time.
In a statement, Lions President and CEO Rod Wood said that we are delighted to be playing internationally, especially in Munich, for the 2026 season. We have made significant investments in the German market as an organization, and we are thrilled to be performing in front of our ardent German supporters.
