He further noted that Milroe has the physical tools and athletic ability needed for the position but would require time to develop into a starting quarterback. Once considered a potential first-round pick, Milroe’s draft stock declined following a disappointing 2024 season and struggles at the Senior Bowl.

During his final college season, Milroe completed 64.3% of his passes for 2,844 yards, rushed for 726 yards, and recorded 36 total touchdowns while throwing 11 interceptions. Over his collegiate career, he amassed 6,016 passing yards, 1,577 rushing yards, and 78 total touchdowns.

Draft analyst Keith Sanchez of The Draft Network praised Milroe’s physical attributes, stating that with the right guidance, he could develop into a productive NFL quarterback.

The Lions already have Hendon Hooker on their roster, but their decision to bring in veteran Teddy Bridgewater, who served as the backup during Detroit’s playoff loss, raises questions about their confidence in Hooker’s progress.

Detroit could provide an ideal environment for a developmental quarterback like Milroe, allowing him to refine his skills behind Goff for several seasons. However, considering Goff’s long-term contract, it remains uncertain whether the Lions would be willing to use a high draft pick on another quarterback.
