The Detroit Lions will suddenly have a bullseye on their back heading into the 2024 season. This is not a position the team has been used to in recent times.

The Lions are hoping to make history for the second year in a row, having not only won the NFC North last season, but also hosting (and winning) an NFL playoff game. The Lions are likewise in a “win now” attitude, and one move might drastically aid them.

The Detroit Lions Get Massive Haul For Jameson Williams In Trade Proposa.

The 33rd Team proposed a number of changes that would result in a “win-win” situation for both teams. The Lions released Jameson Williams.

Raiders Send Davante Adams to the Lions

Trade details: Lions acquire WR Davante Adams, Raiders acquire WR Jameson Williams, 2025 2nd-round pick

The Jets could benefit from combining Aaron Rodgers with Davante Adams, a popular choice among fans. But the Detroit Lions are America’s team right now, so putting the 31-year-old on the league’s most exciting offense makes more sense.

Detroit should go all in, and its WR2 scenario isn’t up to par for a Super Bowl run. Despite his advanced age, Adams remains an incredible talent. Despite spending the last two years in Las Vegas, he has four consecutive seasons with 1,100 yards and eight or more touchdowns.

We need to keep Adams from playing in Vegas for another year, and Detroit’s explosive offense is the greatest way to make the most of his career.

Detroit’s cap situation is healthy enough to absorb Adams’ $16 million base salary right now, and then minor trimming in the future makes this a palatable deal. He has $0 in guarantees beyond this season, so a restructuring could also make his contract more favorable.

In return, the Raiders clear off $17.5 million in 2024, then more than $36 million in 2025 and 2026. Taking a flier on Jameson Williams is what gets this deal across the finish line.

Would the Raiders contemplate moving on from Adams if they aren’t competitive by the trade deadline? Would Detroit consider acquiring one of the finest wide receivers for a playoff run?  This absolutely fits into the “win win” scenario, but only if the Lions win the Super Bowl with Davante Adams. Otherwise, they’re trading a 23-year-old wide receiver (Williams) for Adams, who would be 32 by the conclusion of the 2024 season, for nothing.

It is undoubtedly an intriguing trade proposition that both sides should explore before hanging up the phone.
