t’s true, the Lions escaped from Ford Field in Week 1 with a victory nearly snatched away by Matthew Stafford in yet another eerily reminiscent performance from when he was under center in Detroit.

All the drama from the Detroit Lions’ first game against Los Angeles in January was present in the season opener, and fortunately for the Lions, the outcome was the same. It’s true that the Lions managed to flee Ford Field in Week 1 despite Matthew Stafford pulling off another start that strikingly resembled his time as Detroit’s quarterback.

During Stafford’s time in Detroit, all too typical scenes included teams decimated by injury, a defense that gives up when they need one more stop, and a running game that is strangled. We’ve all seen him in 2014; with those formidable defenses, it was never surprising that he’s had the kind of success he has with the Rams. The Lions would need a Herculean comeback with throw after throw hitting their mark to stay in football games.
