Amon-Ra St. Brown, the Detroit Lions’ top wide receiver, suffered an injury in the second half of the team’s Week 2 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With little over four minutes left in the third quarter, St. Brown hauled in a 17-yard reception before going down with the unidentified injury.
The training personnel came to his aid right away. Although the extent of the injury is now unknown, it seemed to be related to the leg. The good news is that St. Brown managed to go off the field on his own initiative. Before the injury, St. Brown had recorded team-highs in receiving yards (101) and receptions (nine), putting up a strong comeback from a lackluster effort in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Rams.
Head coach Dan Campbell has some excellent news: he doesn’t think St. Brown’s injury will be a long-term problem. The nature of St. Brown’s illness was not disclosed by Campbell, and it is unclear if he will be well enough to play the following week. There’s more positive news to report: St. Brown made a comeback to the match. We avoided disaster.
- Thankfully, it appears that St. Brown will fare well. St. Brown was reportedly wearing his helmet while on the sidelines, which is usually an indication that he will return shortly.
