Following the Detroit Lions’ Sunday loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Ford Field in Michigan, a brawl broke out at a well-liked tailgate location. The battle eventually turned deadly.

Following the altercation in Eastern Market, a neighborhood a few blocks from the stadium, one person was pronounced dead and another critically injured, according to authorities. A man in his 30s was taken into custody, according to Detroit Police Chief James White, as reported by the Detroit News.

Guns, drinking, and tailgating. The publication quoted White as saying, “They do not mix.” “That is absurd. Fight if you are going to fight.

“Everyone needs to own a firearm. They feel tougher as a result. And now we have two individuals shot, one deceased, and another person who is likely going to be charged with murder.

White added that when the suspect drew a gun and fired at least two bullets, the two combatants went into a fighting position. While the other was taken to a hospital, one individual was shot and died.

According to White, when police from the region where the game was being played arrived on the scene, they quickly took the suspect into custody.

” A large fight broke out (which) dispersed after a few minutes,” White stated. “They met again not far from the scene of the first altercation.

“The two combatants raised their hands as if they were going to fight, and one of them—a male from Oak Park—pulled out a gun and fired at least twice. There were two strikes.”

Two weapons were retrieved from the scene, according to police, FOX 2 Detroit reported.

It was unclear what exactly sparked the altercation. White identified what she called a “lack of conflict resolution.” He added that the suspect has a valid gun license.
