Chris Buescher secured the NASCAR Cup Series win at Watkins Glen, impressing Dale Earnhardt Jr. with his performance.
The NASCAR icon commented on X, praising Buescher’s move past Shane van Gisbergen during the race’s final lap.
“Amazing finish. Incredible effort and determination from [Chris Buescher],” Earnhardt shared in his post.
This marked Buescher’s first victory of the season and the sixth of his Cup Series career. The win was significant, as Buescher narrowly missed qualifying for the 16-driver playoff field.
In May, Buescher expressed disappointment to Earnhardt over his second-place finish at Kansas. “This one’s going to sting for a really, really long time,” he mentioned on Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s Dirty Mo Media.
“I told everyone I thought I’d throw up on the way to the airport,” Buescher added. “When looking back, if we had known from the start that we finished second, you’d be upset, but it would have been acceptable.”
