ALLEN PARK — Most likely not the NFL debut he had dreamed of.
Terrion Arnold, who has been called three times for pass interference within the 5-yard line, broke a coverage that resulted in a long score against Tampa. Going into a Week 3 game against the Arizona Cardinals, he is currently the most flagged player in the NFL overall. However, the first-round pick returned to work on Friday and seems to be leaning toward playing in the desert after missing back-to-back practice days.
“He is going to have a big day today,” head coach Dan Campbell stated. “He was in the walk-through area.” Today will be crucial for him since he feels lot better and can run around and practice to see how it looks. However, I believe he is headed in the right direction.
Despite some early setbacks, the Lions assert that Arnold’s game is on the rise. In addition to being flagged four times for 82 yards, both of which are league highs, he has enabled 11 of 13 targets to be completed for 129 yards. Thirteen points are directly related to those flags.
Additionally, Arnold appeared to be at fault for a coverage lapse that allowed Chris Godwin to catch a 41-yard touchdown ball.
However, nobody at Allen Park is beginning to doubt the 24th overall selection.
Defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn stated, “I am fine with him learning as we go through this process. I have the utmost confidence in that player.” “He is going to be an extremely talented player for us.”
On Friday, practice resumed for the second day in a row for center Graham Glasgow (knee) and linebacker Alex Anzalone (brain). Additionally, second-round pick Ennis Rakestraw (hamstring) also returned to the field. It appears that playing Glasgow and Anzalone in Arizona would be wise.Security The lone player missing from the final practice of the week was Ifeatu Melifonwu (ankle). Though they have debated it, the Lions have decided against placing him on injured reserve in the hopes that he will return in the opening month of the season.
