Prior to their Week 3 game against the Arizona Cardinals, the Detroit Lions have announced that they will be inactive.

Alex Anzalone, one of the defensive captains for the Lions, looks to have failed the NFL’s concussion protocol and will miss this game, which is unfortunate for the team. With six linebackers on the roster, the Lions have plenty of depth at the position. In game-day roles, they will rely on Jack Campbell (MIKE), Malcolm Rodriguez (WILL), Derrick Barnes (SAM), and Jalen Reeves-Maybin (coverage)

Coach Dan Campbell stated earlier this week, “Well, I have said this all along, but I have plenty of trust in that linebacker room.” “Jack [Campbell] has supported Alex [Anzalone] well for us, starting with OTAs and training camp.”

Therefore, I am completely confident in that room no matter who plays; if Germ [Reeves-Maybin] is forced to play, I anticipate him to perform on par with all of our other linebackers. Thus, I have faith in those guys.

The Lions decided to make James Houston a healthy scratch in addition to adding Marcus Davenport back into the starting lineup.

Although the Lions did not make any changes to their 53-man roster this week, they did promote wide receivers Allen Robinson and Tim Patrick, increasing Detroit is roster to 55 men for the game.

With eight offensive linemen available for Sunday’s contest, the Lions can increase their game-day roster from 47 to 48 players.Consequently, the Lions must declare seven players inactive for today’s game because there are 48 players who are eligible to play and 55 players on the gameday roster.

Inactive Lions:

WR Abdomen of Isaiah Williams LT Giavanni Manu
Colby Sorsdal, RT
EDGE James Houston Linebacker Alex Anzalone (concussion)
CB Ennis Rakestraw (hamstring) – Ruled OUT on Friday
S On Friday, Ifeatu Melifonwu (ankle) was declared out.
