In Week Three, the Detroit Lions defeated the Arizona Cardinals in a significant game to raise their record to 2-1. The Lions won the game, but it cost them dearly because pass rusher Marcus Davenport suffered an elbow injury and standout tight end Sam LaPorta had to be taken off the field with an ankle sprain.Although LaPorta sustained injuries while blocking a “hook and ladder” touchdown, it seems that the second-year tight end escaped serious injury. LaPorta is anticipated to just miss a small amount of time and recover from a mild ankle injury. For Davenport, who will miss the remainder of the season due to an elbow injury, the news was not nearly as positive.

Though it has not received as much attention, NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reports that Pro Bowl center Frank Ragnow sustained a partly torn pec on Sunday, which was another serious setback for the Lions. Early in the Cardinals game, Ragnow had an injury. Luckily for Detroit, it does not seem like the pectoral tear will terminate the season. Rapoport claims that Ragnow is viewed on a week-to-week basis and may shortly resume action.

In the 2018 draft, the center was chosen by the Lions with the 20th overall choice. In his first season, Ragnow became a starter for Detroit and has been a mainstay at center for the club ever since. In 2020 and 2023, he was selected to the second team of the Pro Bowl. He has also made three Pro Bowls.
