The Detroit Lions bounced back with a win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3. However, the victory came with a concerning injury to one of their key offensive linemen.
Head coach Dan Campbell confirmed that center Frank Ragnow partially tore his pec in the game against the Cardinals. Despite the injury, Campbell hasn’t ruled Ragnow out for Week 4, as the center is still pushing to play, according to 97.1 The Ticket, via Eric Woodyard of ESPN.
“First off, Frank is stubborn. He’s hard-headed,” Campbell said. “He’s tough, he’s stubborn, so he wants to go, and he always wants to go, but this is something we’re still discussing. I’m not completely sure what we’re going to do with him yet.”
“A lot of it depends on how he feels by the middle or end of the week,” Campbell added. “But he’s dealing with something, and he did play through some of it last week.”
Although Ragnow is eager to play, the Lions will remain cautious as it’s early in the season. The center will be evaluated week-to-week as Detroit determines how to manage their injury situation.
“We’ll do what’s best for him and what’s best for the team in the moment,” Campbell said. “But you know how I feel about Frank. We all appreciate him a lot.”
Frank Ragnow is now among several injured Lions players. Marcus Davenport is out for the season, and Derrick Barnes is expected to miss significant time. Sam LaPorta, Brian Branch, and Alim McNeil are all day-to-day.
