Rex Ryan, a former coach of the Jets and Bills, fact-checked colleague Adam Schefter in real time as the Cowboys were reportedly considering hiring Mike Zimmer to be the team’s defensive coordinator.
Ryan began, “I am not sure Zimmer has that job right now.” “I have my doubts about that. To be completely honest, I do not think that is true at this time.
Ryan has more to say about what transpired at this point.
Through ESPN Radio, Rex Ryan stated, “I could have fixed [the Cowboys’ defense] in a New York minute,” as reported by USA Today. Having said that, I would have been present if they had been able to provide the funding.
The amount Ryan requested and the amount the Cowboys are paying Zimmer are unknown. It supports the idea that Jerry Jones, the owner of the Cowboys, is a low-key cheapskate.
Ryan also unnecessarily attacked Zimmer.
“You brought in a guy who finished 29th in the league in his final two years at Minnesota; that is the guy who is going to inspire you with his enthusiasm when he leaves.” stated Ryan. “This could go very wrong for Dallas.”
Ryan’s situation might get worse right now, especially if Zimmer has his cell phone number.
