The Detroit Lions have added wide receiver Allen Robinson to their active roster and linebacker Abraham Beauplan to the practice squad.
On September 26, the Detroit Lions made two signings. The team announced on X (formerly Twitter) that they signed wide receiver Allen Robinson to their active roster and linebacker Abraham Beauplan to their practice squad.
Robinson joined the Lions’ practice squad after being released by the New York Giants on roster cutdown day. He was promoted to the active roster ahead of Week 3’s game against the Arizona Cardinals.
Now back on the active roster, Robinson will remain there permanently.
Robinson has achieved three 1,000-yard seasons in his career. He made the Pro Bowl in 2015 with the Jacksonville Jaguars, tallying 80 receptions, 1,400 yards, and 14 touchdowns.
Beauplan replaces Robinson on the practice squad. The linebacker was with Detroit during the preseason but was cut on August 27.
Last season, Beauplan signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent.
Lions Promote WR Allen Robinson to Active Roster
Robinson debuted for the Lions in Week 3 of 2024, appearing in just one offensive snap without any special teams play. However, Robinson adds depth to the Lions’ receiving corps.
With Robinson’s inclusion, the Lions now have six wide receivers on the active roster: Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Kalif Raymond, Isaiah Williams, and Tim Patrick.
Robinson can play outside or in the slot. Last season, he managed 34 catches for 280 yards and was a key blocker for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In the past three years, Robinson has not averaged over 10.8 yards per catch. His last 500-yard season was in 2020 when he had 102 catches for 1,250 yards and 6 touchdowns for the Chicago Bears.
The Jaguars drafted Robinson in the second round in 2014. He spent four years with Jacksonville, followed by four seasons in Chicago, a year with the Los Angeles Rams, and 2023 with the Steelers.
Lions Add LB Abraham Beauplan to Practice Squad
In addition to Robinson, the Lions also announced Beauplan’s signing on September 26.
Beauplan has no regular-season NFL experience. His time in the league came with the Vikings under defensive coordinator Brian Flores. He might give the Lions insight for their matchups against Minnesota.
Minnesota enters Week 4 with a 3-0 record, boasting the second-best defense in points allowed and third in takeaways.
Beauplan played college football at Marshall. Between 2020-22, he recorded 231 tackles, including 24 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, 3 pass defenses, 5 forced fumbles, and 1 interception.
The 24-year-old joins Mitchell Agude as the linebackers on the Lions’ practice squad. Both could be considered for promotion in Week 4.
The Lions placed linebacker Derrick Barnes on injured reserve on September 24 but have seven linebackers on their active roster.
Detroit will face the undefeated Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football in Week 4, with kickoff at 8:15 pm ET on September 30.
