As he prepares for his third NFL season, Detroit Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson has accepted a challenge from defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn. Hutchinson was told by Glenn to aim high and become one of the league’s best defensive players. Hutchinson has so far up to the challenge, winning the NFC Defensive Player of the Month title following a strong season debut.

Hutchinson is the first Lion to win this award since linebacker DeAndre Levy in September 2014 due to his outstanding play through the first four games. He also becomes the first defensive lineman to win the honor in the history of the team. Hutchinson leads the NFL in both sacks and pressures (40.5), and his stats tell the story. Denver’s Zach Allen is the next closest player, with 23 pressures.

Given his outstanding start, a lot of people are predicting that Hutchinson might surpass Michael Strahan and T.J. Watt’s record for the most single-season sacks. With his current form, observers and supporters are excited about the prospect of him breaking the record for the most sacks in a season.

During an interview on the Up and Adams Show, Hutchinson was asked if he would beat the record, but he stayed realistic. He underlined how crucial it is to concentrate on each game rather than getting sucked into long-term objectives, saying that his approach has always been to take each week as it comes, understanding that NFL performance is erratic.
