FOX 2: The Detroit Lions’ social media pages have announced the passing of former great Greg Landry.
1968–1978 saw Landry play with the Lions. He was the Lions’ final Pro Bowl quarterback before Matthew Stafford’s appearance in 2015 ended the drought.After entering the coaching field, Landry finally rejoined the Lions for the 1995–96 campaign, this time as the quarterbacks coach. Under Landry’s direction, the Lions led the NFL in offensive that season, with then-quarterback Scott Mitchell setting team records.
In addition to being named to the First Team All-Pro in 1971 and winning his only Pro Bowl that season, he was named the Comeback Player of the Year in 1976.
With 16,052 passing yards, 98 touchdowns, and 103 interceptions during his career, he retired.The National Polish-American Sports Hall of Fame inducted Andy in 2012.
