Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams dunked the football over the crossbar after catching a 70-yard touchdown pass on Monday night, paying tribute to Pro Football Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson.

Johnson was inducted into the team’s Ring of Honor during a halftime ceremony in Detroit’s 42-29 win over the Seattle Seahawks. Williams mimicked Johnson’s signature touchdown celebration, following his score against Seattle.

However, unlike Johnson, Williams was penalized. He was flagged for a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, and on Saturday, the NFL announced a $14,069 fine for the act.

Two other players with Alabama football connections were part of the 23 players fined by the NFL for Week 4 infractions.

Cleveland Browns defensive end Alex Wright (Elba, UAB) had a tough week, fined $7,743 for a roughing-the-passer penalty during a 20-16 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. He also had surgery for a triceps injury, ending his season.

SHOCKING: NFL Hands Out Heavy Fine to Detroit Lions Star with 70-Yard Longest Reception and 289 Receiving Yards

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins (Clay-Chalkville) received a $22,511 fine for unnecessary roughness (use of helmet) during a 24-20 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Collins, the 2024 NFL leader in receiving yards, wasn’t penalized during the game.

The NFL determines fine amounts based on a collectively bargained schedule, which includes aggravating and mitigating factors that can affect fines.
