 Dak Prescott had mountains to climb on Sunday night and made his journey harder along the way, but when it mattered most the Dallas Cowboys quarterback proved his worth.
 When accepting a new job or promotion, candidates accepting the position are loosely required to perform other duties as assigned. It is unknown if such details are displayed specifically in Dak Prescott’s new contract extension.
 Though he struggled in performing his traditional role at times, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback found himself in the midst executing such responsibilities in the team’s 20-17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
 On the Cowboys final drive, Prescott powered a surgical campaign, avoided a potential touchback inside the one and recovered his running back’s fumble. All those events played out before he delivered the game-winning touchdown strike to Jalen Tolbert.
 The nature of being the highest paid player in the NFL somewhat urges the final action on that list, Nonetheless, Prescott executed across the board when the Cowboys needed him most. In that way, he reminded why he is worth every part of his $60 million yearly salary.
 “We just wanted a chance,” said the three-time Pro Bowler. “Just give us a chance on that two-minute drive. … Two minutes, something I love … knowing we needed a touchdown.
 Granted, Prescott turned in an overall lackluster performance. Two ill-advised decisions on interceptions and a fumble in the red zone marred what could have been a dominant Cowboys victory.
Against a vaunted Steelers defense, Prescott and the Cowboys moved the ball with ease, punting only once. If not for turning the ball over twice in the red zone, two of their possessions also likely end with points that make their heroics unnecessary.
 Beyond his own miscues, several outlying factors played additional roles in undermining Dallas’ prospects. Costly penalties and continued injury woes made for setbacks that chipped away at the Cowboys.
 Through all that adversity, the team and their quarterback stayed the course. Prescott certainly performed duties outside his usual regiment, but in terms of fulfilling his most crucial and required tasks, he ended right on target.
 Looking forward, this 3-2 team will have to continue navigating style and identity issues while managing an abundance of key injuries. But if this game proved anything, it remains the importance of Prescott and why securing him long term was such a valuable course of action.
