The Detroit Lions could benefit from adding depth on offense, and one NFL insider suggests they may sign a five-time Pro Bowler to address that need.

The Lions are still celebrating their Monday Night Football victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 4, marking their first win against Seattle since 2012. While the offense, led by coordinator Ben Johnson, has been effective, there’s room for growth.

An NFL analyst believes the Lions could strengthen their lineup by bringing in a “productive” veteran wide receiver.

The Lions Could Strengthen Their Wide Receiver Unit

In an October 7 article for Bleacher Report, NFL expert Matt Holder highlighted each team’s weaknesses heading into Week 6. He proposed that the Lions target wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins of the Tennessee Titans in 2025 free agency to add depth at the position.

“Though Amon-Ra St. Brown is coming off an All-Pro season and Jameson Williams is gaining momentum, the Lions could use another wideout to fill the third spot,” Holder noted. “Also, Tim Patrick and Allen Robinson are on one-year contracts, so the team will need a replacement.”

He added, “Hopkins may not be in his prime, but he remains productive, having posted over 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns last season with two starting quarterbacks. At 32, Hopkins might consider a cheaper deal if it means joining a Super Bowl contender.”

Regarding Hopkins, a five-time Pro Bowler, joining Detroit, Sports Illustrated’s Evan Massey shared his thoughts.

“Playing in Detroit could give Hopkins a chance to compete for a Super Bowl,” Massey wrote in an October 9 article. “He might be the piece that propels the Lions to the Super Bowl.”

Massey also acknowledged that while Hopkins “is no longer a top-five receiver,” he remains “an impact player.”

Additionally, in his Bleacher Report article, Holder suggested the Lions, for the second consecutive week, pursue edge rusher Haason Reddick from the New York Jets.

“This recommendation remains as Reddick hasn’t emerged in New York, and Detroit still needs edge support opposite Aidan Hutchinson,” Holder explained.

Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report ranked Reddick as the No. 1 player on the publication’s October 2 NFL Trade Block Big Board and a strong fit for the Lions.
