Alim McNeill’s agent, Mike McCartney, revealed on Tuesday that the defensive tackle and the Detroit Lions have reached an agreement on a four-year deal.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that the agreement is worth $97 million, with $55 million in guaranteed funds. McNeill has started all 35 games since 2022, his second season in the league, after starting six games as a rookie. In 2021, he was selected in the third round.
Through five games this season, the nose tackle has racked up 2.5 sacks, three tackles for a loss, and four quarterback hits. He just had his greatest season as a professional, recording a career-high five sacks in 13 games during the 2023 season.
After first-round choice Penei Sewell and fourth-round pick Amon-Ra St. Brown, McNeill is the third member of the Lions’ 2021 draft class to sign an extension with the team.
