Detroit Lions broadcaster and former offensive lineman T.J. Lang recently ignited interest by suggesting that Las Vegas Raiders standout pass rusher Maxx Crosby might be available for a trade to Detroit. Speaking on 97.1 The Ticket, Lang recognized Crosby’s loyalty to the Raiders but hinted that the difficulties of the 2023 season could create an opportunity for a trade.

“I don’t think Maxx Crosby is oblivious to the situation and thinking, ‘We’re not going anywhere,’” Lang stated, as reported by SI. “If the right opportunity arises, could we make it happen? I’m not asserting that it’s likely or unlikely, but I don’t believe the door is entirely closed.”

Crosby has been vocal about his dedication to the Raiders, previously expressing his reluctance to go through another rebuild. Lang noted that Crosby “doesn’t want to start anew with a different coach and quarterback while carrying the burden of the franchise.” He added, “There’s something fulfilling about being in one place and witnessing the progress, but who knows what will happen.”

Despite not formally requesting a trade, Crosby has developed a notable connection to Detroit, partially due to his time playing college football at Eastern Michigan. “I think he’s flattered by the interest, and the Lions weren’t the only team he mentioned,” Lang explained. “He also brought up Atlanta and the Bears, but he mentioned the Lions several times.” Lang pointed out that Crosby has been “overwhelmed by the support” from Detroit fans and seems genuinely impressed by their enthusiasm.

With Aidan Hutchinson out for the remainder of the season, Detroit could benefit from a seasoned pass rusher, and Crosby fits that need with his history of double-digit sacks and strong presence on the defensive line. According to Lang, while the decision is still up in the air, Lions general manager Brad Holmes may view Crosby as a crucial asset to bolster Detroit’s defensive lineup.

Lang concluded on a hopeful note: “I’m not saying it’s impossible for the Lions to acquire him.” Although he didn’t make any guarantees, Lang’s remarks have certainly sparked speculation, and Lions fans will be closely monitoring the trade deadline, eager to see if Detroit can secure a high-impact player to aid their playoff ambitions.
