After injuring his groin in the Packers’ Week 8 win over the Jaguars, quarterback Jordan Love is hopeful to return this Sunday.
According to Ryan Wood from USA Today, Love feels optimistic about his recovery and considers it “realistic” to play against the Lions.
“I’m taking it day by day, doing my best in rehab, working with the trainers to get back as quickly as I can,” he said. “I definitely want to play.”

Before his injury on Sunday, Love briefly left for the medical tent in the first quarter but returned for the following drive. In the third quarter, he was replaced by Malik Willis due to the injury.
Love didn’t practice Wednesday, instead using an exercise bike. ESPN’s Rob Demovsky reported that Josh Jacobs, Jaire Alexander, Evan Williams, and three starting offensive linemen also missed practice.

In Week 1’s loss to the Eagles, Love suffered an MCL sprain, sidelining him for two games. Malik Willis stepped up, leading the Packers to wins over the Colts and Titans. In Sunday’s game, Willis completed four out of five passes for 56 yards and a touchdown.
Willis has proven to be a strong backup, but Green Bay would prefer their starter on the field against the 6-1 Lions, who lead the NFC North.
In his second year as starter, Love has 1,547 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, and nine interceptions in six games, with the Packers holding a 4-2 record with him at the helm.
