Here’s the latest on potential trades involving Za’Darius Smith and Maxx Crosby.

The Detroit Lions are reportedly in negotiations with the Cleveland Browns to acquire defensive end Za’Darius Smith. According to a recent report, the Lions and Browns were close to a deal to bring the 32-year-old player to Detroit.

NFL insider Adam Schefter, speaking on the “Pat McAfee Show” Monday, shared insights into the ongoing discussions just over a day before the NFL trade deadline. “With Za’Darius Smith, do I think the Lions and Browns have had significant talks? Yes.

Have they agreed on compensation? No, they’re still debating that,” Schefter stated. “Could another team intervene? Absolutely. Ultimately, though, I believe the Browns and Lions will find a way to make it work.”

Schefter added, “Circumstances can change, but the talks have been substantial. Teams regularly check in on players, gauging interest and potential roster upgrades through trades or draft pick compensation.” He continued,

“The teams with fewer wins might trade for picks, while winning teams aim to improve. That’s where things stand as teams continue to explore options.”

Meanwhile, Maxx Crosby voiced frustration following the Raiders’ latest loss to the Bengals. The Raiders, now 2-7, have undergone major offensive changes.

Sports Illustrated reports, “The Raiders have already traded Davante Adams and are open to offers, though they’re not actively shopping anyone else. It would be surprising if they traded Crosby, their remaining locker-room leader after Mark Davis’ major team decisions last year.”

Detroit has also shown interest in Crosby, with Lions general manager Brad Holmes reportedly contacting the Raiders to explore what it would take to acquire the All-Pro defensive lineman.
