The Detroit Lions achieved their seventh win of the season on Sunday, as Dan Campbell’s team went into Lambeau Field and claimed a 24-14 victory over the Green Bay Packers. This win puts Detroit at 7-1, giving them sole possession of first place in the NFC North.

While the Lions’ offense earned praise for their Week 9 performance, Aaron Glenn’s defense also delivered one of their best games of the season. The Packers struggled to find momentum, with Detroit holding Green Bay to just 3/12 on third downs, and safety Kerby Joseph grabbed a crucial pick-six just before halftime.

Despite the strong showing, Detroit’s pass rush fell short, as the team struggled to pressure without blitzing and didn’t record a single sack during the game.

With Aidan Hutchinson and Marcus Davenport both out for the season, Detroit is in urgent need of an edge rusher, and CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin predicts GM Brad Holmes will make a big move for Saints veteran Cameron Jordan ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.

“For weeks, Cleveland’s Za’Darius Smith has been speculated as a likely option to fill the void left by Hutchinson. But if he’s claimed by another contender, Jordan would serve as a viable backup. Though he has a strong connection to New Orleans, he could become available amid the team’s coaching shift.”

Jordan’s 2024 season has been quiet, with no sacks and only 11 quarterback pressures across nine games. The eight-time Pro Bowler may not be as dominant as before but would bring experience to Detroit’s defensive line and leadership to the defense.

Securing the veteran rusher shouldn’t pose much of a challenge for Detroit’s front office; a Day 3 draft pick should be sufficient, and Jordan’s contract is manageable.

Though better options are on the market, Cameron Jordan would be a valuable, low-risk addition for Brad Holmes. The former first-rounder may not be an elite rusher anymore, but he would address a critical need and add postseason experience to Detroit’s roster.
