Following an exciting 26-23 comeback victory over the Houston Texans, head coach Dan Campbell of the Detroit Lions was incredibly proud of his team’s tenacity and fortitude. The Lions battled back in the second half after a difficult first half, and they won thanks to crucial defensive plays and a revitalized offensive effort.

“Man, congrats to DeMeco (Ryans), the coach of the Texans, and their staff. We knew they were going to fight. They were also prepared to leave. According to SI, Campbell remarked after the game, “Man, they gave it everything.” The game was fiercely contested. I am proud of the men since we had to fight our way back in there.

Despite the Lions’ 23-7 deficit going into the second half, Campbell remained confident in his squad. “All we had to do was get our takeaways,” Campbell stated. That is precisely what the defense did. In the second half, the Lions defense forced four punts, two interceptions, and even helped create a missed field goal by the Texans. “Our defense played good early,” Campbell noted, “but second half, you come out and “But when you come out in the second half, it is four punts, two picks, and a missed field goal,” Campbell said. That is enormous.It took a while for the offense to get going, but Campbell sensed his team was getting into a groove when the Lions were within one score. “I knew it was only a matter of time until we woke up on offense,” Campbell remarked. The Lions took advantage of the momentum and won the game after the offense was back in gear.

The game was also greatly influenced by the Lions’ supporters, who traveled in large numbers to cheer on the squad. “Our supporters assisted. Campbell stated, “They helped, got a false start over there on them, and caused one with about eight minutes left in the fourth.” The Lions supporters gave the team the motivation they needed to win.

“Proud of the guys, big win,” was Campbell’s succinct way of summarizing the victory. Now that the Lions are 8-1, Campbell and his team will face additional difficulties, but this win will be remembered as evidence of their tenacity and never-say-die mentality.
