Many analysts consider the Detroit Lions the best team in the NFC at present. Head coach Dan Campbell agrees, issuing a bold message to the NFL about his team.
The Lions’ front office has recently excelled at assembling a competitive roster. Appointing Dan Campbell as head coach in 2021 also proved to be a wise decision.
Though Campbell’s first season ended with a challenging 3-13-1 record, management chose to be patient. This approach has paid off, with Campbell leading the Lions to success in the NFC over the past few seasons.
Dan Campbell issues a warning about the 2024 Lions
Dan Campbell’s journey has been impressive. His first head-coaching role came in 2015 with the Miami Dolphins, where he posted a 5-7 record. However, the Dolphins did not retain him.
In 2021, the Detroit Lions hired Campbell, despite some doubts about the choice. The NFC North team’s gamble, however, has proven worthwhile.
Campbell has built a strong roster and continues to enhance it. Recently, he pushed the front office to acquire edge rusher Za’Darius Smith, further boosting the Lions’ powerful defense.
Smith was absent from Week 10 against the Texans, as he had just arrived in Detroit. Campbell explained they’re easing him in to prepare for a Super Bowl push.
“We’ve got 11 games left, and we’ll need him for all of them,” Campbell said, hinting at a Lions’ Super Bowl appearance. “As we get closer, every game gets more crucial.”
What lies ahead for the Detroit Lions?
The Lions currently top the NFC North with an 8-1 record. They aim to maintain their success through the season and secure a bye week at the start of the playoffs.
