The Detroit Lions are preparing for their Week 11 clash with the Jacksonville Jaguars. With an impressive 8-1 record, they remain one of the league’s top teams this season.

Coming into the year, the Lions were surrounded by Super Bowl aspirations. So far, they’ve lived up to the hype, solidifying their status as legitimate championship contenders.

Under Dan Campbell’s leadership, Detroit brings grit and determination to every game. They play tough and support one another. Even after losing star pass-rusher Aidan Hutchinson, the team has stayed resilient.

However, they now face another setback as they gear up to take on the Jaguars.

According to an announcement from the Lions on X, standout tight end Sam LaPorta will miss this week’s game due to a lingering shoulder injury.

LaPorta’s absence will significantly impact the Lions’ offense.

So far in the 2024 season, LaPorta has appeared in nine games, catching 25 passes for 366 yards and three touchdowns.

While his numbers are lower than his standout rookie campaign in 2023—where he tallied 86 catches, 889 yards, and 10 touchdowns—LaPorta remains a key contributor to the team.

Jared Goff will need to distribute the ball to other targets in LaPorta’s absence, as the tight end has been one of his most dependable options since entering the league last year.

The Lions hope to see their talented 23-year-old tight end return for Week 12. Giving him time to recover is disappointing, but it offers an opportunity for him to heal and make a strong comeback next week.
