The Jacksonville Jaguars hit rock bottom in Week 11, suffering a humiliating 52-6 defeat to the Detroit Lions. Following the loss, head coach Doug Pederson faced numerous questions about his future with the team.

Pederson addressed the questions, though he acknowledged he doesn’t control his fate, as reported by Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network. With the Jaguars sitting at 2-9, speculation about his job will continue until a decision is made.

“I can’t control that. Listen, I’ve been around this league a long time. If it’s going to happen, it’s going to happen obviously,” Pederson stated. “But at the same time, I have a job to do.”

Jacksonville struck first with a 59-yard field goal, but Detroit responded by scoring 28 unanswered points. The Jaguars managed another field goal, but it wasn’t nearly enough. The Lions dominated from start to finish, earning a commanding win.

Entering the game, Jacksonville ranked last in total defense, allowing 390.6 yards per game. The 52 points allowed were their highest this season and the third time they’ve given up 35+ points.

The offense offered no relief, gaining only 170 total yards. Without Trevor Lawrence, the team continued its trend of poor performance. The Jaguars entered Week 11 with the NFL’s 25th-ranked offense, averaging 302.9 yards per game.

Whether the change comes in Week 12 or later, Pederson’s tenure in Jacksonville appears to be nearing its end. With the loss, the Jaguars dropped to 20-25 under his leadership. Their disastrous 2024 season underscores the need for change.

Still, Pederson plans to keep working until ownership makes a decision. A major turnaround would require a monumental effort, but as long as he remains head coach, Pederson is committed to trying to get the Jaguars back on track.
