A rumor from SI.com suggests the Dallas Cowboys are considering making a substantial offer to Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.

The speculation claims Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been highly impressed with Johnson’s performance, especially following the Lions’ dominant 47-9 win over Dallas earlier this season.

Insiders report Jones is so captivated by Johnson’s offensive strategies that he’s prepared to make him one of the NFL’s highest-paid head coaches if Johnson leaves Detroit.

Although still a rumor, the report indicates Jones is willing to meet Johnson’s terms to secure him as the Cowboys’ next head coach.

“League sources say Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was very impressed by the Lions’ offensive display at AT&T Stadium earlier this year, when Detroit won 47-9,” SI reports. “While McCarthy’s salary is mid-tier, sources suggest the 82-year-old owner is willing to pay top dollar to land Johnson.”

Whether Johnson remains in Detroit is uncertain, but rumors of Dallas’ interest are intensifying. Fans will need to wait to see how this potential coaching shift develops. Meanwhile, Detroit supporters are surely hoping Johnson decides to stay loyal to the Lions.
