On Saturday, Davis Warren and the Michigan Wolverines secured bowl eligibility with a commanding 50-6 win over Northwestern at the Big House.
After the victory, Warren spoke about the crucial support he has received from Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff.
Warren, a cancer survivor, discussed how Goff’s mentorship has deeply influenced his life both on and off the field. “That relationship was huge for me,” Warren said.
“He was there for me when I needed support during my treatment. Over time, our connection grew through working with the same trainers.”
Their shared Southern California roots eventually brought both players to the Detroit area, strengthening their bond.
Warren highlighted how Goff’s mindset and gameplay have shaped his own development as a quarterback. “When I returned to the lineup, watching his throws and hearing him talk about being a point guard really helped,” Warren shared.
“It’s about moving the ball—handing it off or passing it—so the offense can flow. That lesson was crucial.”
This mutual respect and shared experience have clearly benefited Warren as he transitions into Michigan’s starting quarterback role.
Goff’s guidance continues to inspire Warren as he embraces greater responsibility with the Wolverines. It’s a testament to mentorship, resilience, and the impact of meaningful connections in football.
