Following the Indianapolis Colts’ tough 24-6 loss to the Detroit Lions at Lucas Oil Stadium, wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. expressed disappointment in the team’s inability to capitalize on opportunities.

The Colts struggled offensively, failing to score after the second quarter. Pittman, who led the team with six receptions for 96 yards, highlighted the offense’s lack of rhythm and consistency as a key factor in the defeat.

“We’ve got to figure out how to be more consistent, especially against a defense like theirs,” Pittman said, referring to the Lions’ disciplined performance. “They’re a strong team, but we didn’t do ourselves any favors today.”

Pittman noted that while the Colts’ defense showed flashes of resilience, keeping the game close early on, the offense’s inability to sustain drives put undue pressure on the team as a whole. “We moved the ball at times, but stalling in the red zone and settling for field goals can’t happen. We have to finish drives,” he emphasized.

He also credited the Lions for their physicality, acknowledging their ability to disrupt the Colts’ passing game. “They’re a smart and well-coached group. They made it tough for us to find any momentum.”

Despite the loss, Pittman expressed optimism about the Colts’ potential. He praised rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson for his poise under pressure, highlighting Richardson’s ability to make plays with his legs, even as the passing game faltered.

“Anthony’s a competitor. He’s growing every week, and I have no doubt he’s going to be special for us.”

The veteran wideout also issued a rallying cry to his teammates, urging them to learn from the defeat and channel their frustration into preparation. “It’s never easy to lose, especially at home. But we’ve got to own this, watch the film, and get better. The season’s not over, and we still have time to turn things around.”

The Colts face a challenging road ahead, with playoff aspirations beginning to fade. For Pittman and the rest of the team, the focus remains on addressing their shortcomings and rediscovering the consistency needed to compete at a high level.

“We’ve shown we can play with anyone,” Pittman concluded. “Now it’s about proving it every week.”
