The Detroit Lions, originally founded in 1930 as the Portsmouth Spartans, have been a part of the NFL ever since. However, until this season, the franchise had never experienced back-to-back campaigns with at least 10 victories.
That all changed today, as the Lions improved their record to 10-1, following a 12-5 finish last year, marking their second consecutive season with double-digit wins.
Before last season, the Lions had only reached 10 or more wins 10 times in their history, with notable years including 1931, 1934, 1953, 1962, 1970, 1991, 1993, 1995, 2011, and 2014. The franchise has long struggled with consistency and sustained success.
But this current Lions squad is different. After making a run to the NFC Championship Game last season, they’ve taken their performance to another level in 2024. And for this team, 10 wins won’t be enough—they’re focused on nothing less than a Super Bowl victory.
