The Detroit Lions, after years of struggles, have finally emerged as an elite team. However, success often comes with challenges, and linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez suffered a major setback on Thanksgiving.

Rodriguez will miss the remainder of the season after tearing his ACL during the Lions’ hard-fought 23-20 victory over the Chicago Bears on Thursday, as reported by NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

“It’s a heartbreaking loss for ‘Rodrigo,’ who has started six games this season, tallying 43 tackles and two sacks — perfectly embodying the grit and spirit of Detroit football,” Schultz tweeted.

Rodriguez has been a critical player in Detroit’s defensive front, stepping up after injuries sidelined Derrick Barnes and Alex Anzalone for the season. The unit now faces further strain with Josh Paschal (knee) and Levi Onzuruwike (hamstring) also injured, though their conditions are less severe.

Despite these mounting setbacks, head coach Dan Campbell refuses to dwell on the losses, as noted by The Detroit Free Press’s Dave Birkett.

“Does it really matter?” Campbell remarked. “Who cares? Either we get a guy back, or we don’t. Worrying and complaining won’t fix anything. It’s just noise.”

Campbell’s unwavering attitude reflects Detroit’s resilience, with the team boasting an 11-1 record despite its injury woes. Still, regular-season success means little without proving themselves when the stakes are highest in January.
