Myles Adams, formerly with the Seattle Seahawks, has joined the NFC-leading Detroit Lions after being waived from Seattle’s active roster and signed to the practice squad.
The injury-plagued Lions added Adams on Saturday, taking him directly from the Seahawks’ practice squad to their active roster. NFL rules prohibit players from moving between practice squads, meaning Adams will remain on Detroit’s 53-man roster for now.
Seattle initially waived Adams to make room for ex-Chargers safety A.J. Finley. After clearing waivers, Adams was re-signed to the Seahawks’ practice squad on Thursday, coinciding with the release of defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna. This move largely went unnoticed as it occurred during Thanksgiving.
Despite their impressive 11-1 record and a 10-game win streak, Detroit’s defense has been decimated by injuries. Aidan Hutchinson’s leg fracture in October was followed by further setbacks: Alex Anzalone (forearm fracture) remains sidelined, Malcolm Rodriguez (ACL) and Mekhi Wingo (knee) are out for the season, and Levi Onwuzurike and Josh Paschal are doubtful for Thursday’s game against the Packers.
In response, Detroit has signed three players off practice squads: Adams, LB Kwon Alexander (Broncos), and DL Jonah Williams (Rams).
Adams, with Seattle since 2020, has alternated between the active roster and practice squad. In 26 games, he’s tallied 30 tackles, 3 quarterback hits, 1 pass defensed, and 1 sack. Given Detroit’s depleted roster, Adams could see substantial action next week.
The Seahawks now have an open practice squad slot following Adams’ departure.
