After their disheartening Thanksgiving loss to the Detroit Lions, the Chicago Bears fired head coach Matt Eberflus the following day.

This decision sets the stage for another coaching search, and according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, there’s one candidate who stands out.

“Everybody’s gonna have their eye on Ben Johnson… And I think he might have some interest in that job. We’ll see if they can convince him to come to Chicago,” Schefter shared.

Last offseason, Johnson was pursued by multiple teams but chose to remain with the Lions to continue building their success. With the Lions now boasting an impressive 11-1 record and being considered one of the NFL’s elite teams, it seems his decision paid off.

Is Ben Johnson the Solution for the Bears?

Known as one of the NFL’s top offensive minds, Johnson has the potential to transform the Bears. Chicago already has offensive weapons like D.J. Moore, Rome Odunze, and D’Andre Swift, as well as a promising quarterback prospect in Caleb Williams. Addressing their offensive struggles, including a lack of consistency and rhythm, is crucial for the Bears.

If Johnson is genuinely interested in the job, he should consider it seriously. With Chicago’s existing talent, he could elevate their offense significantly, bringing much-needed change to a struggling unit.

As the season concludes, Johnson’s future will be a hot topic, and it remains to be seen which opportunities he’ll pursue.
