The Matt Patricia era was a low point in Detroit Lions history, with a 13-29-1 record over less than three seasons. Despite his struggles, Patricia continues to follow the team and celebrates their current success.
Appearing Thursday on Good Morning Football, Patricia expressed excitement about the Lions’ impressive run.
“I love Detroit. I’m so happy for the fans,” Patricia said, according to MLive. “When you take a job in a city, as a coach, all you want is to win for the fans who crave and deserve that experience. I’m thrilled for Dan, his staff, the players, and ownership.”
Patricia continued: “Detroit is on fire right now. It’s incredible. I love how they’re playing the game.”
Heading into Week 14, the Lions hold an 11-1 record and are leading the race for the NFC’s No. 1 playoff seed. Under head coach Dan Campbell, they’ve won ten straight games—their longest streak in 90 years—and are aiming for a franchise-record 11th win against the Packers.
Patricia also praised Campbell’s leadership. “Credit to Dan Campbell for uniting the entire organization and getting everyone to buy into his vision.
Once you taste a bit of success and belief sets in, things take off,” Patricia said. “This league is full of great players, but the Lions have found a way to stand out.”
