The Detroit Lions have revoked the season tickets of a fan involved in a heated verbal confrontation with Packers head coach Matt LaFleur during last Thursday’s game.
Fahad Yousif shared with the Detroit News that he was notified of the decision through an email from the team. Before the game, Yousif was on the field holding part of a large flag during the national anthem when he and LaFleur had a dispute. The Packers coach claimed that Yousif had been taunting players and making inappropriate gestures, such as the throat-slash sign.
Yousif expressed how painful the situation was, saying, “It felt like a huge gut punch. I woke up to the email and couldn’t even speak to anyone in person about it. It was a terrible feeling.” He added that he never had the opportunity to present his side of the story.
The Lions asked Yousif to leave the stadium before halftime. At the time, he acknowledged he had “lost control” of his emotions, and he now feels devastated by the team’s decision. While he admitted the incident could have been avoided, Yousif recognizes his actions contributed to the outcome.
