With just three games left in the regular season, the playoffs are right around the corner. The Detroit Lions, sitting at 12-2, recently saw their impressive 11-game winning streak come to an end.

Last Sunday, the Buffalo Bills defeated Detroit 48-42 at Ford Field. The loss was compounded by significant injuries, as RB David Montgomery and DL Alim McNeill suffered season-ending knee injuries.

CB Carlton Davis also sustained a jaw injury, sidelining him for six weeks. These injuries add to an already long list, which includes Aidan Hutchinson, Marcus Davenport, Derrick Barnes, Malcolm Rodriguez, and Alex Anzalone.

It’s a challenging situation for a team with Super Bowl ambitions. Despite this, the Lions maintain a “next man up” mentality. Hutchinson provided a spark of hope for fans during a recent interview.

Lions Update: Aidan Hutchinson Aiming for Super Bowl Return

In a conversation with Taylor Lautner, the Michigan alum revealed his determination to return if the Lions make it to Super Bowl LIX.

“My goal is to be back for the Super Bowl. I keep telling the guys, just get there, and I promise I’ll be ready,” Hutchinson shared.

Hutchinson’s words have uplifted fans. He suffered a broken tibia and fibula in Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys. Before his injury, the 24-year-old was on pace for a Defensive Player of the Year campaign.

In five games, Hutchinson tallied 19 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks. PFF graded him at 94.9 overall, with an elite 95 pass rush grade.

Though the Lions have faced numerous injuries, the possibility of Hutchinson’s return is a significant morale boost. Even in a limited role, his presence could energize the team.

Detroit faces a tough path to reach New Orleans, but Hutchinson’s potential return offers hope. If they make it, No. 97 plans to suit up.
